Kashmar
Kashmar rugs originate from the small city of Kashmar, located in the Province of Khorassan, just southwest of Mashad.
The two distinguishing features of Kashmar rugs are their large size and unique designs. Kashmar rugs take a range of designs from other regions and modify them into exciting variations that are new and original.
Commonly woven in pictorial designs, Kashmar rugs tell stories of historical events and mystical figures. They may include items of cultural significance, historic buildings, or symbolic representations like the Boteh.
The warp and weft of Kashmar rugs are typically cotton, while the pile is most frequently wool. They well made and can last for generations.
